2nd annual kruckemeyer & cohn diamond dash

Dash for diamonds? Yes, please!

For a chance at love, Evansville couples use mobile gaming technology. Locals search for a diamond engagement ring using their cell phones.

The event is a high-tech scavenger hunt in which participants will be following clues sent to their cell phones, looking to win a $12,000 diamond engagement ring. The hunt promises to be a fun and fast paced adventure around downtown Evansville and a great activity for locals and tourists alike. We expect several hundred local couples will participate.

The deets:

What:  Approx 500 people will meet at Casino Aztar at 11am and run all over downtown Evansville solving clues sent via text message to their cell phones. They will race for about 2 hours, hoping to win the grand prize. The event will end at back at Casino Aztar where the after party will take place from 2pm-3:30pm. The winning team will be announced there.

Who:  The event is being hosted by Kruckemeyer & Cohn Jewelers

planning…forever events is not affiliated with this event, but wanted to let local Evansville brides and grooms know about it. Good luck and happy hunting.

Suggestion: with all that money saved with winning the diamonds, now you can afford a wedding planner. *hint* *hint*

Look how much fun they had in Chi-town with a similar event:

recap on the Royal Wedding…

It’s here. The Super Bowl for wedding planners. The Championship Game. The Grand Finale.

Duke William and Dutchess Catherine of Cambridge have tied the knot.

Now there will be A LOT of recaps. Photos of the dress, the wedding cake, the kiss … blah, blah, blah. But that’s not how we roll here at planning…forever events. Nope, let’s talk about things most people won’t say. Out loud.

A few random thoughts:

  • Pippa Middleton’s dress, just about upstaged Catherine’s wedding dress (which was perfect for her under the circumstances of getting married in an uber-uptight, albeit beautiful, Westminster Abbey).
  • The Priest that was marrying William and Catherine had awful hat hair when he took off that huge hat. It was distracting.
  • Loved that William had trouble getting the ring on Catherine’s finger. Wonder if she had some fish and chips last night? Salt does make the fingers puffy. It was a REAL moment.
  • When William whispered, “You look beautiful” at the altar, yup. I lost it. Glad I was holding kleenex anyway.
  • I think I caught the Queen sleeping during the ceremony. Or perhaps she was intently staring at her lap. Or memorized by her super yellow dress.
  • What happened to Prince and Princess title? Kinda a let down with the Duke and Dutchess title, which was a gift from the Queen. This is what you get when you don’t have a real gift registry.
  • You know what else was distracting? Some of the most atrocious hats that has ever been seen in public. If some lady sat in front of me at one of the most important weddings of the century, where the guest list had to be pared down to an intimate gathering of 1,900 people (*snort*), there would be a beat down, I assure you.

Lastly on this incredibly long yet exciting day …. special thanks to Lauren Matter, anchor for WTVW Fox 7 AM Evansville who invited me to co-anchor the Royal Wedding Recap. Even though I do a on-air segment weekly, this was super fun and I got to sit at the “big girl’s desk”.

Congrats again to the beautiful couple and England!

featured on the stylish planner

the stylish planner logo saundra hadley feature

The Stylish Planner is the brain child of Jeannine Kennedy whom I met at a conference (Eventology 09) in April of this year. I didn’t get to speak with her a lot but I remember sitting behind her during one of the sessions.

I did the total “girl thing” and looked at her up and down. I remember thinking, “She is so stylish and cute…a little southern lady”.

So when Jeannine decided to start a website that was geared for professional event planners about their personal style, fashion and beauty … I wasn’t surprised at all. I was however SHOCKED when she called me and asked if I would like to be a featured planner.

Me? For real? Surprisingly, she was not kidding. For pete’s sake, I had to follow Kelly McWilliams the cutest little planner on earth.

So here’s my feature if you would like to get to know a little more about me. And thanks Jeannine for the honor!

oh, good grief … my aha moment is in the finals!

If you are sick of seeing me post about my aha moment, then you are in good company. Because I’m just about tired of writing about it. I’ve talked about it here, here and (sigh) here.

But at the same time, kinda proud.

My video was selected (thanks to all of you) as the last 25 finalists to make the NATIONAL COMMERCIAL in 2010. Only 10 videos will be selected for the commercial.

Cool, huh? It is, but I have beg all of you to vote, one last time.

Swear, I will not join a contest for at least 10 months. I had no idea when I taped it this summer that I would end up here.

It only takes a moment. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIGN UP (thank goodness). Simply click on this link and you will see my aha moment video and click vote! I even got my own URL:

Super, duper appreciate it and I hope to make it and represent all the wedding professionals out there !!!

VOTING ends on October 31, 2009.

modern bride closing elegant bride

This was just announced this morning that the publishers Condé Nast will be closing several magazines that include, Modern Bride and Elegant Bride, among others. We’ve enjoyed those magazines for years, as I’m sure many of you have as well.

Our hearts go out to the employees that will be directly affected by this reduction.
